The principles that guide our decisions around finance include the priorities of providing transparency, site-based decision-making, input-based decision-making, flexibility, spending guidelines, and equitable allocations to ensure the budget provides equal opportunities for student success in all Chinook’s Edge schools. We ensure our finance decisions are aligned to the Chinook’s Edge mission and vision, that all individual budget managers are accountable, and that instructional allocations are maximized with a focus on student success.

The decisions on how to spend the monies we receive in Chinook’s Edge are shared. Our nine elected trustees make significant decisions around budget, but Chinook’s Edge operates on a site-based decision making model. That means schools have a large amount of decision-making input into their budgets. Parents impact those decisions, as well, through school councils which can work with the school to support the budget process.
