Urban Shuttles
Forms for in-town shuttle busing for 2012-13 school year have just been sent out to schools in towns that have urban shuttle bus service. All students living under 2.4 kms from their designated school now have a flat fee of $110.00. The fee (if there is a fee) will be printed on the form (eg. $0.00 or $110.00). Also, your child's home to school distance will be printed on the form as well. Students living under 1.6 kms from their designated school did not receive a form as typically our bus stops are situated 1.6 km and farther away from schools. If you did not receive one of the pre-printed forms (or if you're new to the area) blank forms are available on our Transportation website under the "Forms and Brochures" tab/2012-13 Urban Shuttle Transportation Form.
Remember: if there is a fee for your child's busing, payment must accompany the registration form or it will be disregarded. For your convenience there is now a section on the registration form for credit card payment.
SHUTTLE FEES REFUND UPDATE: From Highlights from the Board of Education meeting held Wednesday, September 28, 2011: "At the September 28th, 2011 meeting of the Chinook's Edge Board of Education a motion was passed establishing a single fee, to be charged to students who are ineligible for transportation funding in the Chinook's Edge Urban Transportation service, to a lower rate of $110.00 effective September 1, 2011. It was also decided that all families that paid the higher fee for this school year will be reimbursed the difference." For those parents who paid over the $110.00 fee for busing reimbursements are currently being processed. If you paid by Visa or Mastercard you may have already seen a refund to your statement.
Urban shuttles will once again be offered in the towns of Sylvan Lake, Innisfail, Olds, Carstairs and Penhold. Click on the links below for current shuttle information. Please note that schedule times are approximate and may vary with the addition of new students. Be sure to have your child at the bus stop at least five minutes prior to the schedule time.
Students must apply every year for shuttle service. Forms are given to all Chinook's Edge students in the towns where urban busing is available in May of each year for the upcoming school year. These forms display the distance from the student's designated school as well as the registration fee amount if applicable. Blank forms are available for new students either at your child's school or on our website under Departments/Transportation/Forms.
