Barb Rusiewicz-Enright

Student Services - Division Psychologist

Key Roles

Barb is new to the Student Services team at CESD in her role as School Psychologist. Considering herself an 'educarer', Barb's core belief is that relationships matter. This has been evident in her almost 14 years recent experience in assessment and consultative intervention with young children and youth (2 1/2 to 12 years old) with 'severe' and complex emotional-behavioural and developmental needs. In addition, her practice is informed by her work with families who receive Specialized Services in their home along with her long-time college teaching of educational assistants and child caregivers. The perspectives of home and school are integrated in her approach to best meeting a child's needs. Barb looks forward to partnering with teachers, learning support teams, educational assistants, family school wellness workers, specialists and parents/guardians to support the optimal learning and behaviour of students in the classroom.

In terms of her own family and community, Barb is a 'semi-empty nester' (to four now young adults) who has called Central Alberta home for over 20 years (after re-locating here with family from Central California). Barb and her California-born husband, Kevin, may be found on trails riding their bicycles or cross country skiing depending on the season! They also share a love of 'local' music and food. When she is not enjoying things locally with family and friends, Barb often travels to the east and west coast of the States to visit family.
